Sphenoid Sinus Polyp and Sinus Infections and Why
#2
Lightbulb
Sinus Medicine - Sinus Laser Surgery "Changed My Life" Said One Patient
Gentleman named Jason contacted me and said he recently had sinus laser surgery from Dr. Harvey Paley, whose practice is in Beverly Hills, CA. He said flatly that this operation 'changed my life'. This gentleman has had 3 other conventional surgeries in the past 15 years during which time he had lost his sense of smell and sense of taste. Hearing about such a success after a sinus operation is rare in my experience. I personally have had two of them, and they basically didn't work, since I continued to have sinus infections after both of them. In fact, I've heard of very few people who have had sinus surgery and who were pleased about the results over time.

Addition to Dr
Paley in Beverly Hills, CA, I found out about two other otolaryngologists who perform the Sinu-Clear sinus laser operation. One is Dr. Vincent Pisciotta in Biloxi, Mississippi, and the other is Dr. Robert Bonham in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Bonham also performs another new operation called Sinuplasty, which is similar to angioplasty but for the sinus cavities. I understand there may be a few other surgeons in the country who routinely perform the Sinu-Clear operation, and I intend to continue to research this and get the word out. Results will be posted on the blog and forum at ***** I only wish I had heard about this sinus laser surgery procedure years ago. It sounds like it might have been more effective and certainly less painful than the operations I did have. If you are considering being one of the 300,000 people who have sinus operations in the U.S. alone, this procedure is certainly something to know about and consider as an option, even if it were to require travel. This is a dependable source of information on Sinus Treatment. All that has to be done to verify its authenticity is to read it!

So when someone is as enthusiastic about his operation as Jason is, it is time to listen, especially considering his background of sinus problems. The operational procedure is called Sinu-Clear, and it uses a laser as well as an endoscope. The laser equipment also provides a steady stream of salt water to flow through the nasal passageways while the operation is taking place. There is apparently very little bleeding during the procedure, since the laser cauterizes the tissue being operated on. Because of this there is no need for nasal packing, and this is a huge positive, as those of us who have gone through a conventional operation with a scalpel and had our noses packed can attest. For me it was just awful. The endoscope allows for good viewing by the surgeon, as the camera projects a picture of the nasal cavities being worked on onto a television screen. We have avoided adding flimsy points on Sinus Surgery, as we find that the addition of such points have no effect on Sinus Surgery. Smile

Asked this question to a gentleman from the company that produces the Sinu-Clear laser equipment, a company called PhotoMedex. He said there are many reasons for so few surgeons using the procedure, and most seem to boil down to the reluctance of people, in this case sinus surgeons, to change. In fact PhotoMedex is emphasizing different product lines of medical laser equipment, and the gentleman I spoke with was not optimistic about growth aspects for this procedure. To me this is certainly a shame. I personally have only spoken to one person, Jason, who has undergone the procedure, but he is extremely enthusiastic. I hope to speak to others and get more inputs. I can only say that when someone who has had 3 other operations tries sinus laser surgery and says he has finally regained his sense of smell again after 15 years, then this is worth taking note of, at the very least. We have included some fresh and interesting information on Sinus Problems. In this way, you are updated on the developments of Sinus Problems.

This Type of Approach Seems to Make Perfect Sense
That is, using laser and endoscope technology to limit bleeding and see clearly what is being operated on. The first question I had is 'why are there only a small handful of surgeons in the U.S. doing this operation?' It is not brand new, and in fact this laser sinus surgery was apparently pioneered by Dr. Daniel M. Schuman from Boca Raton, Florida over 10 years ago. Apparently Dr. Schuman has subsequently retired from his medical practice. Suppressing our knowledge on Sinus Surgery is not our intention here. In fact, we mean to let everyone know more about Sinus Surgery after reading this!

You feel like you are experiencing symptoms of fungal infections of sinuses, you must go to a medical specialist right away to have your condition assessed. It is important to immediately determine the type of infection that you have in order to begin the corresponding treatment.

The Second Kind of Non-Invasive Sinus Infection is the Allergic Fungal Sinusitis
This is caused by the drechslera fungus. In this condition, the sinuses are swollen and they need to be shrunk back to their normal size before the operation. Steroid ointments can work well for this purpose. Some doctors also recommend that you use a nasal wash first. If these methods do not work, that is the only time to go for the surgery. In addition to what we had mentioned in the previous paragraph, much more has to be said about Allergic Fungal Sinusitis. If space permits, we will state everything about it.

Invasive fungal infections of sinuses, on the other hand, have a tendency to spread to surrounding tissues and can quickly reach other areas if not treated right away. For these infections, surgery is the only treatment that is guaranteed to work completely and eliminate all traces of the infection.

Non-invasive fungal infections of sinuses do not spread to surrounding parts of the sinuses, which is why many medical practitioners consider this type to be the less dangerous of the two. Sinusitis is the substance of this composition. Without Sinusitis, there would not have been much to write and think about over here! Big Grin.

Once you start feeling the symptoms of fungal infections of sinuses, it is advisable to go for tests right away. If you turn out to have an invasive form of infection, it is much better to undergo surgery immediately before the fungus has a chance to spread to the surrounding tissues.

However, you still need to seek treatment for these non-invasive infections as they can still cause significant damage to the affected areas if left untreated for a while.

Quote:

The chances of having the same type of Nail fungus infections of sinuses more than once in your life are very low.
This is because the body will develop a long-lasting immunity to the infection.
There are Two Kinds of Non-Invasive Fungal Infections of Sinuses
The first is the sinus mycetoma. This infection is caused by the funguses Aspergillus fumigates, bipolaris and the Curvularia lunata. Surgery is necessary to remove the fungus in these types of infections. Oral medication must be taken daily for a couple of weeks after the operation and your condition must be regularly monitored as well.

Make sure that you follow your doctor's instructions to the letter to make sure that you will be completely healed after a few days.
Among these invasive forms are the chronic and acute invasive fungal sinusitis and the chronic granulomatous sinusitis. Smile
Sinusitis is the medical term for inflammation (irritation and swelling) of the sinuses. It's usually caused by infection. Sinusitis can be acute (going on less than four weeks), subacute (4-12 weeks) or chronic. Acute sinusitis often starts as a cold, which then turns into a bacterial infection. Allergies, pollutants, nasal problems and certain diseases can also cause sinusitis. Acute sinusitis is usually precipitated by an earlier upper respiratory tract infection, generally of viral origin. Virally damaged surface tissues are then colonized by bacteria, most commonly haemophilus influenzae, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Moraxella catarrhalis and Staphylococcus aureus. Symptoms of chronic sinusitis are the same as acute sinusitis, but tend to be milder and last longer than 8 weeks. It affects 32 million people in the United States.

Gently Blowing Your Nose, Blocking One Nostril While Blowing Through the Other
8. Wash your hands frequently, particularly after shaking hands with others. It was with great optimism that we started out on writing this composition on Nasal Polyps. Please don't let us lose this optimism.

Complicated Sinusitis Tratment and Prevention Tips 1.
Avoiding air travel. 2.
Avoid smoke and pollutants. 3.
Drinking plenty of fluids to keep nasal discharge thin.
Treatments Include Antibiotics, Decongestants and Pain Relievers
Use an over-the-counter medicine such as acetaminophen (one brand name: Tylenol) for pain. Using heat pads on the inflamed area, saline nasal sprays and vaporizers can also help. Taking ibuprofen or acetaminophen can help to relieve pain and inflammation. A cool-mist humidifier may soothe your sinuses. Warm compresses usually help with facial pain. Nasal corticosteroid sprays may be used to decrease swelling, especially if you have swollen structures (such as nasal polyps) or allergies. Antibiotics are used to cure the particular infection causing sinus inflammation. Surgery to clean and drain the sinuses may also be necessary, especially in patients with recurrent episodes of inflammation despite medical treatment. Patience was exercised in this article on Chronic Sinusitis. Without patience, it would not have been possible to write extensively on Chronic Sinusitis.

Use a Humidifier to Increase Moisture in Your Nose and Sinuses
5. Drink plenty of fluids to increase moisture within your body. 6. Using an oral decongestant or a short course of nasal spray decongestant. We have actually followed a certain pattern while writing on Acute Sinusitis. We have used simple words and sentences to facilitate easy understanding for the reader.

There are Many Prevents of Complicated Sinusitis
Get plenty of rest. Sip hot liquids and drink plenty of fluids. Apply moist heat by holding a warm, wet towel against your face or breathing in steam through a cloth or towel. Don't use a nose spray with a decongestant in it for more than 3 days. Get plenty of rest and fluids so that your body's immune system can work along with the antibiotics to fight the infection. Spray with nasal saline several times per day. Inhale steam 2 - 4 times per day. Drink plenty of fluids to thin the mucus. Apply a warm, moist washcloth to your face several times a day. Gently blowing your nose, blocking one nostril while blowing through the other. If you have allergies, try to avoid contact with things that trigger attacks. Penetration into the world of Sinuses proved to be our idea in this article. Read the article and see if we have succeeded in this or not!

Sinuses are air pockets in our skull and even small children have these cavities in their skulls. Sinus headache is caused when there is an infection in the sinus cavities either due to some microbes like virus or bacteria or even fungus or because of an allergic attack. How to get rid of sinus headache is all about making the symptoms of the sinusitis to subside!

Some of the things in vogue to get rid of sinus headache are applying vaporizers or balms on the fore head, taking painkillers etc.
How is it that while sometimes sinus leads to headache but not always is also very important to know?
It depends upon the sinuses affected and the kind and the extent of infection and the severity with which the body has responded to it.
A preliminary diagnosis suggests that the sinusitis is because of an infection then to get rid of sinus headache, one should start taking some anti-biotics. How to know if it is an infection is not very difficult. All that one needs to do is to examine the color of phlegm and if it is yellow and green then most probably one needs an anti-biotic. Anti-biotics also makes the symptoms of the bodily reaction to the infection to subside, which is the main cause of discomfort to the patient.

To get rid of sinus headache one should think how to clear the nasal passage and sinus exits, which get blocked by the mucus.
Inhaling steam not only soothes the pain in the nasal passages but also provides humidity that is very much essential to clear the excess mucus.
We were a bit tentative when embarking on this project on Sinus Headache.
However, using the grit and determination we have, we have produced some fine reading material on Sinus Headache.
Three Years Ago, One of My Friends Had Got a Very Severe Sinusitis
He went to the doctor and the headache was so appalling that the only thing he could ask the doctor was how to get rid of sinus headache. The doctor smiled and said it depends upon the type of your sinusitis and if it is because of sinusitis at all. We also need to ensure before rushing in for medication and tablets that whether the headache is because of sinusitis or not. There has been a gradual introduction to the world of Sinus Infection Treatment projected in this article. We had done this so that the actual meaning of the article will sink within you.

Chronic sinusitis has over the years caused a lot of suffering to many people without them knowing what to do in order to come out of this predicament. This type of sinusitis usually takes a longer period of time in order for it to clear compared to other forms of sinusitis. Its main cause is the allergens such as dust, pollen, mold and other pollutant that may easily be found in the environmental air. When these allergens enter the body through the nostrils, they tend to precipitate allergic reactions in the body that lead up to the release of some body compounds.

However, several approaches used as chronic sinusitis treatment have been able to come up over the years. One of these approaches is the use of home remedies. Using sea water being one of the home remedies approaches to treat this type of sinusitis has proven to be effective enough. This is due to the fact that, the salt contained in the water is strong enough to drain out all the water molecules from the bacteria causing the infection through a process known as Osmosis thus killing these bacteria and in the process bringing an end to the infection. The sea water can be put to use through the use of droppers to insert the water inside the nostrils or by taking a swim in the ocean something that is widely perceived to be the safest as opposed to getting the sea water inside the nostrils through droppers.Another home remedy is to drink hot liquids such as hot chicken soup throughout the day. By doing this, you help moisturize your cilia inside the nostrils which in turn increase their movement and the result of this is, mucus in the air passages is washed away leaving behind a clear air pathway which makes it easy for the patient to breathe. It is always better to have compositions with as little corrections in it as possible. This is why we have written this composition on Sinus Cavity with no corrections for the reader to be more interested in reading it.

For cases where by this infection has been caused by structural abnormalities such as the presence of polyps (little growths found in the nostrils) or having a deviated septum (a bony partition dividing the two nasal air pathways), surgery is usually considered to be the best approach to act as a the chronic sinusitis treatment. For children, removal of the adenoids said to be the main air obstructors is usually the main target by surgeons since it has always been seen to be the effective way to treat this condition. On the other hand, the removal of polyps in adults is believed to the ideal surgical treatment for them.To reduce chances of contracting this infection, always avoid areas that are full of allergens such as dusty places.

The second approach that can be used to act as a chronic sinusitis treatment is the use of medicines. Many a times, doctors are made to prescribe these drugs to their patients after conducting a sufficient diagnosis.Medicines such as antibiotics are often used to treat this infection due to the fact that, they help hinder the formation of the outer cell structure of bacteria.Without their outer cell structures, bacteria cannot survive hence the infection being treated. A common type of antibiotics being used as a chronic sinusitis treatment is the Amoxillin antibiotic which can easily be purchased over the counter from any pharmacy.Other medicinal approaches include the use of antihistamines such as Claritin and Allegra to block the action of histamine in the body.Once these antihistamines have been consumed, a drowsy effect is usually felt by the patient and so he or she is always advised not to drive or operate any kind of machinery while on this medication. The presentation of an article on Sinus plays an important role in getting the reader interested in reading it. This is the reason for this presentation, which has gotten you interested in reading it!

When this Takes Place,
Histamine being one of the body compounds, gets a chance to be produced and subsequently, it reacts with the cells found on the surfaces of sinus linings. When this reaction occurs, the cells get damaged and in turn, the lining is forced to swell up causing an air obstruction in the process. When air is prevented from reaching the sinus cavity, it makes it difficult for bacteria in the nostrils from being destroyed by the oxygen present in the air. As a consequence, the bacteria multiply in huge numbers and inflame the paranasal sinuses which in the end cause sinusitis to occur. When this incident happens to a person who may at the time be suffering from an immunodeficiency disease such as AIDS or Diabetes, the infection takes longer to heal and the person is said to be suffering from chronic sinusitis.
